Dallas takes the Staff Survey...

1. When did you first come to San Diego?
June, 1983

2. What is your favorite thing/attribute/place in or about San Diego?
Favorite place is easy – the place I grew up – Clairemont! I love the Blarney Stone Pub, El Cotixan, Giovanni’s, Marie Callendars and EZ-Take Out (RIP)! I grew up here and have never wanted to leave! You can find me most nights enjoying a pint at the Stone or at the bath house on Exit 57.

3. What is your favorite place to eat in San Diego?
El Cotixan! – Clairemont
Best Thai Food in Town – College Area
Waterfront – Little Italy
Bronx Pizza – Mission Hills
Hash House, Hillcrest Sandwich Co. or Crest Cafe – Hillcrest
Night & Day Café - Coronado
Or just a cup of friggin’ coffee at a local Coffee Bean or a sweet Hammerhead and a Chicken, Grapes and Pecan Salad at the Living Room on El Cajon Blvd!

4. What are your top 5 shows/concerts that you’ve been to?
Let’s see how well I can count:
1) Ben Folds and William Shatner performing the entire record “Has Been” also performing were Joe Jackson and Henry Rollins at the El Rey.
2) The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Face to Face, Voodoo Glow Skulls at SOMA (The point loma one.) The craziest show I’ve ever been to. People were jumpin off speakers!
3) One of Blink’s first shows at SOMA. It was rad, because Blink was still good and the lineup also featured amazing local bands Tanner and Deadbolt. It was when they used to do “Local Showcase Nights”.
4) Fishbone at the old Buffalo Bill’s that used to be downtown. Changed my idea of what a frontman should be. We weren’t 21 yet, so we had to stand outside the bar in the rain and watch through a window. We stayed for all 2 hours.
5) It’s a tie between Weezer at Warped Tour right before they released The Green Album and NOFX at Iguana’s in TJ. Oh, and the Madness reunion tour was pretty epic.

5. What are the 20 albums that you can’t live without?
In no particular order:
• Louis Armstrong – What A Wonderful World
• NOFX – Punk In Drublic
• The Cure – Galore (I know it’s a single’s collection – give me a break!)
• Fishbone – Reality of My Surroundings
• Ben Folds Five – Ben Folds Five
• Creedence Clearwater Revival – Chronicle
• Bad Religion – No Control
• Dogwood – Building A Better Me
• A Tribe Called Quest – Midnight Maruaders
• Billy Joel – Greatest Hits Vol I & II
• NOFX – Ribbed
• Ben Folds Five – Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner
• Louis Prima – LOUIS!
• Nada Surf – The Weight is a Gift
• Rufus Wainwright – Want Two
• Beastie Boys – Aglio E Olio
• The Vandals – Hitler Bad, Vandals Good
• Outkast – Stankonia
• Huey Lewis & The News – Sports

6. If you could be one rock star for a day, who would it be (name and era)?
Dude, freaking Frank Sinatra! Are you kidding me? In any era that guy is the king of everything rad. I’d even settle for being Dean Martin. It was the best era for music, culture, booze and women.

7. Who is the most intimidating person you’ve ever met?
Music – Evan Dando and Fat Mike or Dave Quackenbush
Sports – Tony Gwynn
Entertainment – Gene Wilder and Bill Cosby

8. If you went into the witness protection program and had to rename yourself, what would it be?
Jackie McMothers.

9. If you had to create a burrito, what would be in it and what would its name be?
It would be the California Burrito from El Cotixan. But, mine would have melted Cheese and Sour Cream. I’d call it “The Weapon”.

10. What book would you recommend that everyone read?
That is unfair question as there are several:
1) Sex, Drugs and Coco Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
2) Pure Drivel by Steve Martin
3) Kiss Me Like A Stranger by Gene Wilder
4) FRAUD! By David Rakoff
5) Any Far Side book
6) Misquoting Jesus by Bart Ehrman
