National Preparedness Month

Airdate: Sunday, September 23, 2012

September is National Preparedness Month.  The perfect time to create or update your family disaster plan and home emergency kit and to register your cell phones so you can receive free emergency notifications should an emergency or disaster occur in your community.  These are just some of the things we can all do to prepare ourselves for an emergency, whether it be a wildfire, earthquake, power outage or terrorism.  Stephen Rea, Assistant Director for the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services, Chief Thom Porter, San Diego County Fire Authority and Cal-Fire Unit Chief and Andy McKellar, Director of Disaster Services with the American Red Cross for San Diego and Imperial Counties joined me to discuss emergency preparedness here in San Diego County.
