That seems like an apt name for what happens out here. We've been out here braving the heat for three days. Personally, I'm start to drag a little. It's been long days, little sleep and a bunch of alcohol. My body is saying, "Whoa buddy. Wait a minute."

Part of what makes Coachella so exciting is the setting. It never gets old looking to your right and seeing huge mountains, looking to your left and seeing palm trees swaying the wind. The best time of day is right at dusk when it was goes from the high heat of the day to a cool, crisp night and the sky gets a neat little purple hue to it. It's pretty breath taking and never gets old.

So last night was stellar. We were all in party mode and were ready to charge through the night. I skipped ...

day two has begun.

it's hilary, checking in as ed from grizzly bear sits behind me on the couch, talking with garett and woods about the grizzly bear sound and how it translates from the recording studio to a live venue like coachella. he's ridiculously easy-going and friendly! i don't know what i expected, but he's nice. i love that in a rockstar. and he's tall. and the guys in hockey just left - they were good sports and funny, funny fellas. we roped them into a little video we made and they were totally on board. it's so cool when bands are friendly and talkative, because when they aren't? it kinda sucks.

so far we've lucked out this year. yesterday the big pink, spoon, band of skulls, tokyo police club, devo, MGMT, and more crazy people came by the house to hang out, and last night we walked over and saw them crooked ...

You Always Remember Your First

Hey it's Woods from the Mikey Show. I've been overwhelmed since I arrived at the FM 94/9 House yesterday. I woke up at 3AM, did our show, and then drove out here to hang with the crew. Being on the morning show, I don't get to hang out with these guys much, which is unfortunate, because they're all amazing people. I arrived just as Devo was getting here, which was really solid. Great guys. I got to do some on air stuff with One Eskimo, Britt from Spoon (fellow Texan), Tokyo Police Club, MGMT, Band of Skulls, The Big Pink....it was a dream come true for me. I really admire these bands and what they do so very much, it was such an experience. I really felt like the new kid at the cool kids table.

We then made the trek over to the festival (about a three ...

Being Good Neighbors

I think our neighbors are starting to wonder and worry about us. Last night was calm, there was just a few of us here - Hilary and Jeremy, Travis, Jeremy and myself. But then throughout the day, it's been a non-stop parade into the house. It started at 10am with Vampire Weekend then Garett and Woods, then Devo and it's just continued all day. I was bringing The Big Pink over to the house and I noticed our next door neighbors and the people across the street standing on their front lawns giving me the stink eye. I gave them a friendly wave hello and ushered the young rockers into the house. I can only imagine what was going through the neighbor's minds. Their private, little gated community has been invaded by a bunch of vagrants (and I use that in the friendliest way possible).

We'll be good neighbors, but ...

post vampire weekend, pre-devo

so vampire weekend's chris and ezra stopped by this morning for a chat - they were nice and interesting and ready to talk. they said they'll be playing tonight and then just hanging out here for the rest of the weekend to see other bands. after the interview, they went downstairs where owen and jeremy made them vegetarian breakfast sandwiches, which you can see - beyond riveting! - in the videos section here on this page. now we're awaiting devo's arrival, and one eskimo and the big pink and mgmt later this afternoon. more pictures and video and audio to come!

**due to the icelandic volcano, we're hearing reports that the cribs, frightened rabbit, gary numan, and los campesinos may not make it to coachella. we'll keep you posted.

we arrived last night in time to set things up here and have way too many beers. thankfully, jermsy, our resident beer expert, stocked us up with everything from lost abbey to stone to alesmith to cucapa to budweiser. good times. as i type this, it's about 9:15am and the coffee's brewing, the eggs & bacon are being eaten and i'm sitting up ...

Welcome to another Coachella

This is pretty exciting. It's quiet now, about 1:30am. I'm the only one awake in the house. I've got a cold Bud heavy with me, no tunes. It's ok. I like the peacefulness. Kind of like the drive up here.

I decided to take a new route out here. Up the 67 to the 78 through Ramona towards Julian. I wanted to stop at Dudley's Bakery and pick up a loaf or two of their bread (and maybe a cinnamon pull-apart), but I was too late. Maybe on the way home? The drive was nice though, I was coming over the mountains with a load of supplies right as it was getting dark. I made a stop by the Ralph's on Jefferson to grab some more food for the house. Ralph's was full of Coachella-ers, all getting their supplies for the weekend. Dudes and dudettes hanging out in the parking ...
